December 21, 1959
The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town council was called
to order by the Mayor, Charles 0. Laker, at 7 :30 p.m. 8ouncilmen
present were Stan Minkler, A. G. Radford, Wynn Anderson and A. G.
Radford.

Mr. baker asked the Council if they were prepared to recommend
someone to fill the vacancy on the Council caused by the resignation
of Mr. Frese. IIr. alinkler recommended Mr. Stanley Smith who lives
at 5337 S. 154th to fill this vacancy. Mr. Doyle moved this
recommendation be accepted and Mr. 6 mith be appointed to this office,
seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Mayor Baker administered the
oath of office to iir. Smith and welcomed him to the council table.
Mayor Baker announced that the terms of Mr. Wells McCurdy and
IYIr. E. W. Ives as members of the Planning Commission expire on
January,2, 1960. He appointed Mr. McCurdy and Mr. Ives to succeed
themselves as members of the Planning Carrnnission their terms to
expire on January 2, 1966. Mr. Minkler confirm these appointments,
seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried.
Current bills were examined and upon motion ordered paid.

Mr. baker announced that uLr. Winters, County Road Engineer,
who had been invited to this meeting .,had called Mr. -Baker and
regretted that a previous engagement made it impossible for him
to attend. He will come at some other time.
Mayor., read correspondence between himself and Mr. Burzenski
and Don Magnuson, Congressman.
x letter from attorneys for Mrs. Bassani filed a claim against
the town for damages to mrs. Bassani's residence during a heavy
rain. Mayor baker stated copies of the letter had been sent to
John Dobson, our attorney and to Don Pollock, insurance agent gor
the town. Mr. Zepp and Mr. Radford reported on the above complaint.
Mayor Baker stated he would call a meeting of the Council, Mr.
Dobson, l'lr. Pollock and Mr. Zepp when all the reports are in.

Mr. kinkier moved the adoption of Resolution I\lo.121, in which
the Town Council petitions the King Lounty School Organization
Committee to give favorable attention to petitions of Tukwila
citizens who wish to transfer into the South Central school District,
seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried.
Mayor Laker called attention to the fact that from January 8 to
January 22, candidates may file for the March election for the
Mayor's office, for three Councilmen for a four year term and for
one Councilman for an unexpired two year term.
