January 4, 1960
The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to
order by the iv'iayor, Charles 0. 1:aker, at 3 P._I. Councilmen present
were Stan Minkler, A. G. Radford, Wynn Anderson, R. K. Doyle and
Stanley Smith.
The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved as
read.
Current bills were examined, vouchers signed and upon motion,
ordered paid.

a total value of ',296,100 and ;763.00 in fees.
The report of the Treasurer was read and accepted.
The report of the Water dept. was read and placed on file.
Mr. Laker reported the Christmas Party given by the Fire Dept.
was a success. They entertained the largest growd they have ever had
Mr. Zepp reported he had made a list of work necessary for flood
control to be presented to the State Dept mayor Laker appointed
Mr. Doyle and lair. Smith to work with Mr. epp on this report.
NIr Baker asked that a check be made with the County Env-ineers,
to discover what towns border the Oril].ia bridge, and what portion
is in the County. Mr. Baker appointed Mr. Minkler, Mr. Radford and
Mr. Zepp a committee to study this situation.
A letter was read extending an invitation to Tukwila officials
to attend a dinner meeting of the Legislative Committee, meeting at
North Bend on January 22, 1960. Several stated they would like to
attend.
Mr. Minkler moved the adoption of yes. No. 122, a resolution
in appreciation of the work of Mr. Lawrence Lrese as Councilman,
seconded by Mr. Radford and carried.
NIr. Radford moved Ord. No. 296, an, ordinance amending Ord. 251,
and recommended by the Planning Commission, be placed on its first
reading, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Mr. Doyle moved urd.
No. 298 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Anderson
and carried. Mr. Doyle moved Ord. No. 293 be placed on its third
reading and final passage, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried.

Mr. Radford moved Ord. No. 297, relating to peddlers, be placed
on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr.
Radford moved Ord. No. 297 be p .t.ced on its second reading, seconded

Mr. baker reported Mr. Wells B. McCurdy, Vice President of Noet
gate Co., had purchased the Presidents' car, from the ag r c d
Milwaukee Railway Co and plans on bringing it to Tukwila and install-
ing it in South Center Development. Mayor Baker stated he and Mrs.
Baker were entertained, recently, by Mr. and Mrs. McCurdy, in this 1
Presidents' Car, which is now located in Spokane. Mayor Baker des-
cribed the Car as very beautiful and fully equipped with a luxurious
lounge and dining and sleeping accomidations. Mr. McCurdy said he
plans to name the Car for our town, Tukwila.
