The Council discussed requests for rezoning, as recommended by
the Planning Commission, that would extend into an area supposed to
be the route of the Freeway. Mayor Baker reported that Mr. Sterling,
of the Bureau of Public Roads, had contacted him and requested that
him,
and
further rezoning be done in the route of the reeway. Mayor Baker
informed Mr. Sterling that our town officials had never been told as
to where the Freeway or Interchanges would be located. The Mayor
read a letter from Mr. Paul McKay in which Mr. McKay requested no
rezone be permitted nor building permits issued for 60 or 90 days,
until the route og the Lreeway and Interchanges is made known.
Mayor Baker reminded the Council that the Highway Department had
never furnished the town with a set of plans, definitely stating
where the proposed ereeway and Interchanges are to be located.
After considerable discussion Minkler :roved we table these
requests temporarily and take no action until we can contact our
attorney. Mr. George McBroom, attorney, was present and very much
interested in the discussion, in which he took part.
Meeting recessed to meet on June 20th at 8 :00 P.M. 10 :30 PM.
