A Special meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to
order by the Mayor, Charles 0. Saker,at 7 :00 P.M. Councilmen present
were otan Minkler, Arlie Radford, R. K. Doyle, E. W. Ives and Jerry
Hamilton.
Mr. Ira Uottom and mr. Eddy, representing Seattle City Light,
explained that City Light is anxious for the town to settle on the
transmission line route from their Tukwila substation site north.
They presented their map showing the three routes outlined through
the corridots and requested an immediate decision from the town
Officials as to which of the three routes it would be.
Mayor Baker explained that the property along the three routes is
some of the most valuable land in the town and should be reserved
for the highest possible use. Realizing to the fullest extent the
provisions of our agreement with City Light, the Mayor again re-
quested a further investigation of a route through the River Valley.
After some discussion the feeling was introduced that no real
attempt had yet been made by City Light engineers to investigate a
route through the River Valley, along Interurban Avenue. Mr. Cottom
indicated his displeasure with what he considered to be another delay,
but agreed to consult with his superiors on the possibility of a
valley transmission line route. Mr. Cottom and Mr. Eddy took their
leave and the meeting with the City Light was by motion adjourned.
