August 22, 1960
The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to
order by the Mayor, Charles O. Baker, at 8:00 p.m. Councilmen
present were Stan Minkler, A. G. Radford, E. W. Ives, R. K. Doyle
and Jerry Hamilton.
The only bid for Street Improvement work was presented -by the
Rainier Asphalt io.
The Council examined the bid and after c.nsideration found it
satisfactory. Mr. Radford moved the bid be accepted as follows;
Item 1. $1,577.00
2. 350.00
3. 3,785.00
4. 1,490.00
5. 3,000.00 on a unit basis, seconded by Mr. hamilton and
carried. tiepresentatives of nainier Asphalt Co. present said they
were satisfied with action taken.
Councilmen expressed their opposition to the proposals of Seattle
City Light and felt City Light has not exhausted the pouibilities
of other routes.
Mr. Jodi Marshall, representing ADT, explained how this company
could furnish protection for the industrial area of town, assist
the Police and Fire departments in doing a better job.
Mr. Doyle moved that Mr. Jack Marshall of ADT contact and work
with the Tukwila Police 8ommission and the Tukwila Police rbrce to
determine how ADT can be made operative to best serve the Town of
Tukwila, seconded by Mr. kinkier and carried.
Mayor Baker informed the Council he had received a letter from
Wells McCurdy stating that Puget Western and Puget Sound Power & Light
Co. are opposed to.the proposal of Seattle City Light to locate
their transmission line right-of-way out of the Tukwila Substation
in a northeasterly direction. He stated overhead transmission lines
would have a deteriorating effect on property values in Andover
Industrial Park. Since at the insistance of the Town of Tukwila
all utilities will be underground in this Industrial Park he felt
overhead transmission lines through this development are inconsistent
with the basic policies of both the Town of Tukwila and the devel-
opers of Andover.

Mr. C.E. Brown discussed with the Council plans for selling
.eireworks in 1961.
Mr. Minkler moved that a License to sell fireworks in 1961 be
granted to Mr. Brown, provided the town of Tukwila decides to
allow the sale of fireworks at that time, seconded by Mr. Ives and
carried.
Mayor Baker asked the Council's pleasure in granting a Business
License to Mr. Hamilton. Mr. Minkler moved the License be granted,
seconded by Mr. Radford and carried.
Mr. Doyle moved meeting adjourn, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and
carried.
