HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-08-30 Special Minutes August 30, 1960 A Special meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Charles 0. Baker, at 8 :00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives and Jerry Hamilton. Mayor baker stated the meeting had been called to consider a petition for the vacation of certain streets in town. Mr. Radford read the petition, requesting the vacation, also Resolution No. 130 which provided for the Public hearing on same. Mayor Baker read letters from Southcenter and Puget Western officials, owners of the area in question, regarding the relocation of streets proposed to be vacated. Mr. Burzbnski, Engineer with John Graham 'ompany and Project ngineer answered questions regarding the vacation of a portion of South 162nd Street and 56th Avenue South and the relocation of 57th Avenue South. Mr. Paul oicKay, District Engineer of the Washington State Dept. of fighwars, presented views of his department And the proposed Interstate Freeways. Twelker, consulting soils engineer, representing Mr. Don Raren, discussed problems in the area. Mr. M.G. Stevens of 14852 53rd Avenue South took part in the discussion. After a brief recess, at which time the Council retired to the Mayor's office to review points of the discussion, Mayor Baker called the meeting to order and reported the Council felt they needed added time to arrive at a decision regarding the vacation of the streets in question. Mr. Minkler moved the hearing of said vacations be continued to 8 :00 P.M., September 14, 1960, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. The Developers, Members of State Highway Dept. and 6ouncilmen planned a meeting in the near future. By motion meeting a -jour a at 10 :00 p.m. Lois T. Newton city Clerk
