HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1292 - Rules and Procedures for Basic Cable Rates for Franchises ras O 1908 B C ity u,1 1 a Washington Resolution No. 1292 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING RULES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE REGULATION OF BASIC CABLE RATES FOR CABLE OPERATORS FRANCHISED TO OPERATE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF TUKWILA. WHEREAS, the Cable Television Consumer Protection Act of 1992 (47USCS subsection 543) authorizes local government agencies to regulate certain aspects of the rates charged for basic cable services; and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila recognizes that the regulation of the rates charged for basic cable services is of direct benefit to the citizens of Tukwila who subscribe to such services; and WHEREAS, the City has applied for and obtained certification from the Federal Communica- tions Commission to regulate the rates for basic cable services; and WHEREAS, a resolution establishing the rules and procedures for regulation of basic cable rates is required by the Federal Communications Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Tukwila is legally authorized to adopt Rules and Regulations for the regulation of basic cable rates and has the necessary personnel and resources to carry out the admin- istration of rate regulation procedures. Section 2. The City of Tukwila will adopt and administer Rate Regulation Rules which are in accordance with the Federal Communications Commission's Rules and Regulations. Section 3. The City of Tukwila will ensure that all procedures and rules adopted to carry out rate regulation proceedings will provide reasonable opportunity for consideration of the views of any interested parties.
