Resolution No. 1294 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, FIXING THE TIME FOR A PUBLIC
HEARING FOR VACATION OF PORTIONS OF MAULE AVENUE
BETWEEN S. 141ST PLACE AND S. 141ST STREET, S. 141ST
STREET BETWEEN INTERURBAN AND MAULE AVENUE, AND
FOR S. 141ST PLACE BETWEEN INTERURBAN AND THE LEFT
BANK OF THE DUWAMISH RIVER.
WHEREAS, a Cooperative Parking Agreement has been developed with adjoining property
owners to provide 10 permanent parking stalls adjacent to the Duwamish River for continuous
public use for trail and river access and provide 18 adjoining stalls for similar public use during
daylight weekend hours, daylight holiday hours, and daylight weekday evening hours as well as
the adjoining businesses having agreed on sharing the parking; and
WHEREAS, easements for trail and utilities will be provided as well as equivalent right -of-
way adjacent to Interurban Avenue in exchange for the vacations; and
WHEREAS, Metro is constructing trail, curb, and gutter improvements as well as a water
reuse line in the relocated right -of -way as mitigation for the sewer construction and Metro has
participated in the design and development of the Cooperative Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the combined action benefits trail users with the parking, motorists with better
cross section for Interurban, and the vacation is needed for the Green River Trail segment
construction;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A public hearing upon the vacation of portions of Maule Avenue between South
141st Place and South 141st Street, South 141st Street between Interurban and Maule, and for South
141st Place between Interurban and the left bank of the Duwamish River, shall be held before the
Tukwila City Council in the City Council Chambers at Tukwila City Hall, 6200 Southcenter Blvd.,
Tukwila, Washington, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard on April 25,
1994, which is not less than twenty (20) nor more than sixty (60) days from the date of passage of
this resolution, at which time all persons interested in said right -of -way vacation are invited to
appear and be heard.
Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to post written notice of pendency of the public hearing
in three public places in the City of Tukwila and in one additional conspicuous place on the right -of-
way sought to be vacated at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for hearing.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this day of 1994.
