Resolution No. 1341 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE SOUTH
CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 406 AND THE HIGHLINE
SCHOOL DISTRICT 401 SCHOOL PROGRAM LEVY
ELECTIONS AND URGING ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS TO VOTE
FOR SCHOOLS IN THE FEBRUARY 6,1996 SPECIAL ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the South Central School District and the Highline School District will be
asking all residents to vote on the 1997 and 1998 school levies on February 6,1996; and
WHEREAS, the School District levies are not new taxes, but replacement of the two-year
general fund levies approved in 1994; and
WHEREAS, school levies represent 20% of the Districts' operating budgets each year; and
WHEREAS, the public schools are an important and integral part of the City of Tukwila
community; and
WHEREAS, the strength of a community is measured by the schools it keeps; and
WHEREAS, the schools of the 1990's need broad citizen support to meet the diverse needs
of today's families and to help each student to achieve his or her potential;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The City of Tukwila supports the South Central School District and the Highline School
District school program levy elections to be held on February 6, 19%, and urges all eligible voters
to vote for schools in the February 6,1996 special election.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this /2 day of ,1996.
