J i G) i a C) t 1908 C ity Washington Resolution No. 1345 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, SETTING A PROCESS AND PLAN FOR RESIDENTIAL REVITALIZATION. WHEREAS, Tukwila is a vibrant and unique city with many positive characteristics, and WHEREAS, citizens, government and business in Tukwila all have an investment in the City's future, and WHEREAS, if not addressed, certain elements can lower the quality of life in neighborhoods, and WHEREAS, it is recognized that crime; substandard housing; inadequate infrastructure consisting of sewer, water and drainage problems; lack of sidewalks; and poor street lighting have all been identified as problems that affect the quality of life in a community, and WHEREAS, a program to revitalize neighborhoods by building on the positive elements and working to eliminate problems will result in improvements to neighborhoods, and WHEREAS, the Council, Administration and staff have resolved to work together with citizens and businesses to develop and implement a program in which both government and citizens assume responsibility for revitalizing neighborhoods; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: The City Council, Administration and staff will work with businesses and residents together to develop and implement a Residential Revitalization Program plan. Specific elements in the program plan will include the following: 1. Identification of the problems and strengths which are unique to certain neighborhoods. 2. Locations and issues on which to focus revitalization efforts. 3. Recognition and encouragement of the positive elements already existing and working in the community to help neighborhoods achieve revitalization. 4. Short and long term plans and strategies to eliminate identified problems. 5. Plans and strategies to encourage positive aspects of neighborhoods. 6. Plans and financing for short term strategies. 7. Plans and financing for long term strategies. 8. Cross references for other exisiting documents and policies already in place. 9. A City map with neighborhood areas defined. 10.
