A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A MODEL FOR
GRADUALLY INCREASING THE SALARY OF THE POSITION OF
MAYOR OVER FOUR YEARS.
WHEREAS, the salary for the position of mayor has increased only by COLA's since the
1970's, and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes an increase in the mayor's salary is needed to reflect
the current time commitment, and
WHEREAS, the responsibilities and time requirements of the position of mayor have
increased with the complexities of city government, and substantial increases in population and
assessed valuation,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Beginning in January, 1997, the current salary for the position of mayor shall be
increased by $2,205 per year for four successive years; and
Section 2. No cost of living increases will be included until the salary reaches $30,000, after
which time the same percentage cost of living given to non represented employees will be given
annually.
