A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON SUPPORTING THE EQUITY AND DIVERSITY
COMMISSION OF TUKWILA.
WHEREAS, the population of Tukwila has been increasing in ethnic and cultural diversity;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the interests of all to have a united community that can understand, ac-
cept and celebrate the differences between people; and
WHEREAS, ignorance and prejudice toward different cultures can lead to discrimination
and a breakdown of community trust among people; and
WHEREAS, understanding, accepting and celebrating different cultures and various ethnic
backgrounds will enrich and strengthen our city, enabling all people to live together in harmony;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City supports the creation and mission of the Equity and Diversity Com-
mission of Tukwila, and will work to ensure the Commission's success.
Section 2. The City of Tukwila will work in partnership with the South Central School Dis-
trict to identify and implement strategies to involve more families and children of color and other
diverse populations in school and community activities.
Section 3. The City of Tukwila will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in
Tukwila.
