A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING
THE UPCOMING TUKWILA SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOND FOR DEMOLITION AND RECONSTRUCTION
OF THORNDYKE AND TUKWILA ELEMENTARY
SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, enrollment at Thorndyke and Tukwila has grown beyond the two schools'
ability to house their students without the use of temporary portables; and
WHEREAS, a study has shown the most cost effective and efficient modernizations and
expansions of the two schools can be done through their reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, the Tukwila School District Facilities Advisory Committee has studied the
District's facilities need and has recommended replacing both Thorndyke and Tukwila
Elementary Schools; and
WHEREAS, the School District is seeking approval of a $23,500,000 bond to replace the
two schools;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY SUPPORTS the district's February 3rd, 1998 general obligation
bond measure to expand and improve the schools.
PASSED BY THE CITY CO,CIL OF T CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this �j` day of 1991.
