A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RENAMING THE 16TH
AVENUE SOUTH BRIDGE AS SOUTH PARK BRIDGE.
WHEREAS, the 16th Avenue Bridge is on the very northern edge of the City and
serves the City of Seattle, unincorporated King County and small portions of the City of
Tukwila's transportation network; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is planning to enter into an interlocal agreement with
the City of Seattle and King County that will allow the City of Tukwila to make a one -time
payment and thereafter be relieved of annual and long term payments for the maintenance
and replacement of the bridge; and
WHEREAS, residents in the area of the bridge have worked with King County to
change the name of the bridge to represent their neighborhood of South Park; and
WHEREAS, the geographical location of the south end of the bridge is in the unin-
corporated South Park neighborhood, whose citizens support this change, and geograph-
ical location is a criterion for changing names according to Resolution No. 1400; and
WHEREAS, there are no Tukwila citizens living within close proximity to this bridge,
which is used primarily for commercial purposes;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The bridge formerly designated as the 16th Avenue Bridge, described as crossing the
Duwamish waterway generally lying between East Marginal Way South and South
Cloverdale Street in the N.E. quarter of Section 32, Township 24 North, Range 4 East, W.M.
and connecting the 14th Avenue South roadway corridor in South Park to the 16th Avenue
South roadway corridor in Tukwila, is hereby designated as the South Park Bridge.
