HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0098 - Regulate Traffic During Winter SeasonORDINANCE NO 98 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON THE STREETS AND ROADS IN THE TOWN OF TUKWILA DURING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF TIE WINTER SEASON. WHEREAS, public convenience and safety demand and require that there shall be constructed and maintained within the Town of Tukwila, certain streets and roads which shall be open to public travel at all times, and WHEREAS, there are certain periods during the winter season, during which travel upon such streets and roads by commercial vehicles would render said streets and roads impassible and cause serious damage, NOW TIThREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TUKW]LA Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby vested in the Superintendent of Streets of the Town of Tukwila the authority to prohibit the travel of commercial vehicle upon or across such streets and roads of the Town of Tukwila as he shall in his judgement deem prudential for the preservation and naintainance of such streets and roads for as long a period or periods as he shall deem advisable. Section 2. That it shall be the duty of the Superintendent of Streets to post suitable notices in a conspicuous place upon or near such streets and roads as he shall deoignate closed to the travel of commercial vehicles and shall maintain such notices during the time such streete and roads are closed. Section 3 That any person in control of or driving a commercial vehicle desiring to travel upon or across such streets and roads during the period they are closed shall apply to the Supt. of Streets for a permit to do so and it shall be the power of the Supt, of Streets to grant or refuse such permission as he shall deem advisable. Section 4, That for the purposes of this Ordinance, the terms. "commercial vehicles" shall be held to include all vehicles not ordinarily considered as passenger or pleasure vehicles, Section 5. That any person in control of or driving a commer- cial vehicle who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon the conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than Five nor more than One Hundred Dollars or imprisoned in the County Jail for not lees than One or morn than Thirty days or both fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the Court. Section 6.
