HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0800 - Declare Emergency to Repair Storm Drain Line on South 133rd (42nd Avenue Bridge)CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 800 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR REPAIR SERVICES. WHEREAS, heavy rain on October 5 and 6 caused a blockage in the storm drain line on South 133rd under the 42nd Avenue Bridge, and WHEREAS, the force of the water created a large hole between the bridge abutment and the first pier, and WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has declared an emergency as further rain and continual washing could undermine the foundation of the abutment and cause a total failure of the bridge, and WHEREAS, King County has agreed to pay for the portion of the storm drain line lying within the county service area. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Tukwila City Council hereby declares the condition of the storm drain line on South 133rd Street under the 42nd Avenue Bridge an emergency situation and authorizes the Mayor to execute a construction contract with Gary Merlino Construction in the amount of $24,313 to relocate the line. Section 2. Estimated completion costs are shown on Exhibit A and will be paid from the CITY STREET Fund. Section 3. King County has agreed to fund the portion of the storm drain line within the county service area as determined at completion of the project. at a regular meeting thereof this 27th day of October 1981 Apiroved as to Form City Attorney Lawrence E. SCOPE THE CITY will include in its South 133rd Street Storm Drain Replacement Contract the necessary standard plans and specifica- tions, as approved by THE COUNTY, for the construction of that portion of South 133rd Street outside the corporate limits of THE CITY. THE COUNTY will reimburse THE CITY for such costs of construction, engineering and such other work as may be necessary as shown on "Exhibit A" attached hereto. Exhibit A is an estimate prepared prior to opening bids for construction. Final payment by THE COUNTY to THE CITY will be based upon actual contract costs incurred. THE CITY will submit monthly invoices to THE COUNTY based upon the monthly contractor's estimate.
