RESOLUTION NO. 839
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE
FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTER-
AGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PRO-
VIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has previously
enacted Ordinance 964, which adopted the Park and Open Space Program ele-
ment of the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Tukwila, which includes a
neighborhood park for the McMicken Heights /Crestview area, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land
Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made
available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the con-
struction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila considers it
in the best public interest to develop a neighborhood park in the southern
part of the City generally located on the west side of Interstate 5 and
south of Interstate 405 in a neighborhood known as McMicken Heights on
land owned by the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Mayor be authorized to make formal ap-
plication to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund
assistance.
Section 2. That any fund assistance so received be used in
the development of 11 acres of park land in the southwestern portion of
the City of Tukwila, Washington, for park and recreation purposes.
Section 3. That the City's share for the project shall come
from the Land Acquisition, Building and Development Fund.
Section 4. That any property acquired with financial aid
through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in
use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in
perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council,
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal
agency.
Section 5. That this resolution become part of a formal appli-
cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
at a regular meeting thereof this 6th day of December 1982.
