HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0848 - Tukwila Historical Society CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON 7 RESOLUTION NO g R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE TUKWILA HISTORICAL SOCIETY. WHEREAS, on September 20, 1982, the Tukwila City Council approved the request of the Civic Arts Commission to purchase frames for several turn -of- the century photographs, and WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Washington prohibits cities from giving any money or property to an association or individual, Article VIII, Section 7, thereby making an agreement necessary to clarify ownership and display schedules. Approved as to Form NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: The Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the Tukwila Historical Society regarding the ownership and display schedules of said pictures and frames. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a regular meeting thereof this_7 of GZA l 1983. ATTEST: Deputy City Attorney, Daniel Woo ayo ��r�Y(/ /(X erk AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF TUKWILA AND THE TUKWILA HISTORICAL SOCIETY. WHEREAS, on September 20, 1982, the Tukwila City Council approved the request of the Civic Arts Commission to purchase frames for several turn of- the century photographs, and WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Washington prohibits cities from giving any money or property to an association or individual, Article VIII, Section 7, and THEREFORE, an agreement is necessary to clarify ownership and display schedules. The City of Tukwila and the Tukwila Historical Society agree to the following: 1. The City agrees to purchase picture frames for the turn -of- the- century photographs of Tukwila at a cost not to exceed $251.10. 2. The City agrees that the frames will remain the property of the City and the Historical Society will own the photographs with all rights reserved. 3. The Historical Society agrees that the pictures will be permanently housed in the City building located at, 14475 59th Ave. So. 4. The Historical Society agrees that the pictures will be displayed at City Hall and other Municipal Buildings on a rotating basis subject to Historical Society schedules. 5. Pictures will be covered by City liability. 6. The City Council and the Historical Society agree that, if the time ever comes that the Tukwila Historical Society, by its formal resolution, disbands,the photographs will be placed in the possession of the City of Tukwila for display and storage.
