HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-06-12 - Call for Bids - Tukwila Levee Repair/Maintenance - Howard Hanson Dam Flood ResponseCITY OF TUKWILA CALL FOR BIDS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be received by the City of Tukwila, Washington, at the office of the City Clerk, in Tukwila City Hall, 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, Washington 98188, up to the hour of 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, for: Tukwila Levee Repair Maintenance Howard Hanson Dam Flood Response Project No. 10901301 The Work to be performed within 180 calendar days from the date of Notice to Proceed consists of furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and other work or items incidental thereto for: Removing approximately 38,000 linear feet of temporary barrier, consisting of HESCO units and Super Sacks. Specific tasks shall include, but are not necessarily limited to removing and disposing of approximately 23,000 linear feet of Super Sack barrier; Removing and disposing of or salvaging approximately 15,000 of HESCO barrier; acquiring approximately 1,900 linear feet of unused HESCO barrier from the City and delivering to the US Corps of Engineers; salvaging, cleaning, stacking on pallets and delivering to the US Corps of Engineers approximately 2,100 linear feet of removed HESCO units; removing and disposing of or salvaging approximately 2,700 linear feet of concrete barrier along SR -181; installing approximately 545 linear feet of guardrail along SR -181; rechannelizing approximately 3,000 linear feet of SR -181, north of South 180 Street; asphalt concrete, cement concrete, and grass restoration; providing temporary erosion /water pollution control; health and safety plan; compliance with Hydraulic Project Approval; compliance with UPRR for work within UPRR right -of -way; compliance with Federal and State Contracting Provisions included in the Contract Documents; and site restoration. And, other items necessary to complete the Work as shown on the Contract Documents. Informational copies of any available maps, plans, specifications, and subsurface information are on file for inspection in the office of the Tukwila City Engineer, at the Public Works Department. All bid proposals shall be submitted according to the Information for Bidders and be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in the form of a cash deposit, certified or cashier's check, postal money order, or surety bond made payable to the City of Tukwila, for a sum not less than five percent (5 of the amount of such bid, including sales tax. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactory payment and performance bonds within the time stated in the specifications, the bid deposit /bond shall be forfeited to the City of Tukwila. The City of Tukwila hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contracts entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex or national origin in consideration for an award. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids or waive any informalities in the bidding and make the award as deemed to be in the best interest of the City.
