HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0865 - IAC for Outdoor Recreation Grant Application - Green River Pedestrian and Bicycle PathwayCITY OF TUKWILA WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies a pedestrian /bicycle pathway on the Green River in the southern portion of the City, and; WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies, and; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila considers it in the best public interest to develop a pedestrian/bicycle pathway in the southern part of the City generally located along the banks of the Green River between South 180th Street and the southern City boundary on what is commonly referred to as Christensen Road or other City -owned property or easements. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance, Section 2. That any fund assistance so received be used in the development of a blacktop trail in the southern part of the City of Tukwila, Washington, for pedestrian /bicycle purposes and associated improvements, Section 3., That the City's share for the project shall come from the Land Acquisition, Building Development Fund, Section 4. That this resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
