HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0874 - Feasibility Study on Puget Sound Insurance Authority to Self InsureCITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON J RESOLUTION NO. 874 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF CITY OF TUKWILA FUNDS TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF ITS PARTICI- PATION IN THE PUGET SOUND CITIES INSURANCE AUTHOR- ITY TO JOINTLY SELF INSURE ITS GENERAL LIABILITIES. WHEREAS, the cost, availablilty and adequacy of insurance coverage for cities is a concern to the City of Tukwila, and WHEREAS, joining together with other cities for joint self insurance and /or joint purchase of insurance coverages is an alterna- tive to conventional insurance purchase and claim procedures, and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is interested in obtaining information regarding its participation in the Puget Sound Cities Insurance Authority, and WHEREAS, it is recognized that determining the feasibility of the City of Tukwila participating in PSCIA can be best determined through an evaluation by PSCIA of the City's management activity and loss and exposure activity, and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that payment of a fee to PSCIA to conduct an evaluation study is a necessary step to ensure a timely and complete review of its possible participation. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City of Tukwila desires PSCIA to perform the necessary evaluation study to assist it in determining the feasibility of the City participating in PSCIA's joint self insurance pool. 2. That any funds paid by the City of Tukwila to PSCIA will be considered a non refundable study fee for initial evaluation of the City participating in PSCIA. 3. The amount of $3,000 shall be paid to PSCIA as an evaluation fee by the City of Tukwila. This fee shall be paid to Puget Sound Cities Insurance Authority, c/o Tim McGuire, Authority Treasurer, P.O.
