AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR The grading and/or graveling in the
Town of Tukwila, Streets, Avenues and Boulevards, as follows,
to -wit:
For the Grading and Graveling of Main Street throughout its
entire length from the rest margin of Pacific highway to the North
margin of Clarence Avenue.
For the Grading of Maule Avenue from the South margin of Main
Street to the North margin of Clarence Avenue projected.
For the Grading of First Avenue from its intersection with
Maule Avenue to a point East Six Hundred and fifty (650) feet.
For the Grading of Second Avenue from its intersection with
Maule Avenue to a point East Two Hundred and fifty (250) feet.
For the Grading and /or Graveling of Tukwila Avenue from the
West line or margin of Warren Avenue to the East margin of Rainier
Avenue.
For the Grading and Graveling of Riverside Avenue from the
North side of ite intersection with Clarence Avenue to the North
line of the Hamlin Myers property.
For the Grading of 'barren Avenue from the north side of its
intersection with Tukwila Avenue to the South line of its inter-
section with Clarence Avenue.
For the Grading and Improving of Hazel Avenue from its inter-
section with Division Street, West about Two Hundred and fifty
(250) feet.
For Repairing by Filling,Shoring, Timbering, or otherwise, what
is known as the "S. Lemon Road" in front of and abutting upon the
MacDonald property.
For the Grading and Improving of Outlet Avenue from the West
margin of Riverside Avenue, West about Three Hundred (3uu) feet.
For Grading and Graveling uutlet Avenue between Division and
Bluff Streets about One Hundred and fifty (150) feet.
For the Grading and Graveling of Kenney Boulevard from the West
margin of Tukwila Avenue, East about Four Hundred (400) feet.
WHEREAS: Public necessity and convenience demand that various
Streets, Roads, Avenues or Boulevards in the Town of Tukwila be Graded,
Gravelled and Improved, as outlined above; and,
WHEREAS, At a Special Election held in the Town of Tukwila on
the 5th day of April, A.D. 1919, for the purpose of voting upon the
question of issuing bonds whereby funds might be obtained enabling the
Town Council to grade or otherwise improve the Streets of Tukwila, a
Bond Issue was voted, of Seven Thousand Dollars, General Obligation
Bonds of the Town of Tukwila, by more than a three fifths majority;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF TUKWILA:
Section 1. That Main Street in the Town of Tukwila be graded
the full width of the street from the West margin of Pacific Highway to
the North margin of Clarence Avenue; and that after this grading has
been completed, a coat of gravel from Four (4) to Six (6) inches in
thickness be put on for a width of Twelve (12) feet, in accordance with
the specifications to be prepared by the Superintendent of Streets;
that wooden gutters of adequate dimensions to carry off the accumulati
of water at any season of the year shall be placed on both sides of this
Street; Provided, however, that at or about the South line of Highland
Drive these two gutters shall be merged into one pipe or aqueduct,
constructed of wood or metal; size, material and form of construction,

also whether open or covered, to be left to the discretion and judgment
of the Superintendent of Streets and the Street Committee of the Town
Council; this pipe or aqueduct to carry the accumulation of water down
the hill on said Main Street and to connect with the present drainage
system leading to the Duwaanish River under the Pacific Highway.
Section 2. That Maule Avenue shall be Graded from the South
margin of Main Street to the North margin of Clarence Avenue, projected.
Section 3, That First Avenue be Graded from its intersection
with Maule Avenue to a point East Six Hundred and fifty (650) feet.
Section 4, That Second Avenue be Graded from its intersection
with Maule Avenue to a point East Two Hundred and fifty (250) feet.
Section 5, That Tukwila Avenue be Graded and Graveled from the
West margin of Warren Avenue to the East margin of Rainier Avenue.
Section 6. That Riverside Avenue be Graded and Graveled from
the North limit of its intersection with Clarence Avenue to about the
North property line of the Hamlin I ;yere property.
Section 7. That Warren Avenue be Graded from the North limit
of its intersection with Tukwila Avenue to the South line of Clarence
Avenue.
Section 8. That Hazel Avenue be Graded from Division Street
West about Two Hundred and fifty (250) feet.
Section 9. That Outlet Avenue be Graded from the West line of
Riverside Avenue West about Three Hundred (3O0) feet.
Section 10. That Outlet Avenue between Division and Bluff
Streets be Graded and Graveled for about One Hundred and fifty (150) feet,
Section 11. That Kenney Boulevard be Graded and Graveled from
the West line of Tukwila Avenue East about Four Hundred (400) feet.
Section 12. That Clarence Avenue be Graded and Graveled from
about Riverside Avenue to a point about Two Hundred (200) feet West.
Section 13. That what is known as the "S. Lemon Road" be
Repaired by Filling and /or Shoring, Timbering, Bulkheading, or other-
wise, in front of and abutting upon the MacDonald property.
Section 14, The points of grade on all of the above Streets are
to be established by the Street Committee and the Engineer in Charge.
With the exception of Main Street, which will be graded as specified in
Paragraph One of this Ordinance, the exact width of grade will be left
to the discretion of the Engineer in charge, subject to the approval of
the Street Committee.
Section 15. That provision is to be made for gutters on all
streets mentioned in this Ordinance for improvement by grading; but
where no specific mention is made of gutters in connection with any
street to be improved as above, the provision for said gutters and the
material from which the same are to be constructed, the size, etc.,
shall be left to the discretion and judgment of the Street Superintend-
ent and the Street Committee of the Town Council. Also, where no gravel
is mentioned in the improvement of any street mentioned in this Ordi-
nance, the matter of graveling or not graveling, as the case may be,
shall be left to the discretion and judgment of the Superintendent of

Streets and the Street Committee of the Town Council.
Section 16. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 17. This Ordinance shall become effective from and
after five (5) days from the date of its execution by the Mayor and
Clerk.
Passed the Town Council of the Town Of Tukwila and signed by
me in authentication of its passage this 12th day of June 1919.
