RESOLUTION NO 916
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
REGARDING THE COUNTY GENERAL DEVELOPMENT GUIDE AND
IMPLEMENTATION MEASURES.
WHEREAS, King County's proposed General Development Guide sets forth
policies concerning development throughout King County, affecting incorporated
and unincorporated areas alike, and
WHEREAS, Suburban cities within King County have vital concerns about
the location, quality, timing and amount of urbanization which will be
directed to "candidate areas" within and adjacent to cities, including
Tukwila, and
WHEREAS, the inevitable growth in King County can only be responsibly
and intelligently managed if the delivery of needed public services and faci-
lities are provided in a cost effective and equitable manner, and
WHEREAS, the draft General Development Guide recognizes that the
cities of King County represent the most efficient, equitable and logical
units of government to deliver urban services to the "candidate areas" for new
urban growth, and
WHEREAS, the King County executive and his staff have incorporated
many of the concerns and suggestions of the cities into the current draft of
the General Development Guide, and
WHEREAS, a technical committee of suburban city Planning Directors
has served to coordinate the participation of the cities in the evolution of
this critical growth management plan and is now embarked upon the development
of effective and innovative implementation measures to make the ideal of coor-
dinated growth management a reality.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON
DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The King County Executive and his staff are to be commended for
their affirmative response to the suburban cities' interests regarding the
draft King County General Development Guide.
2. The City of Tukwila expresses its general support for the current
draft of the General Development Guide and hereby requests the King County
Council to keep the cities informed of the adoption deliberations and pro-
ceedings.
3. The King County Council is requested to respect the City's
attached adopted service and impact areas when considering future incorpora-
tion elections or annexation proceedings.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this 4th day of June 1984.
