RESOLUTION NO. 928
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
RECOMMENDING AN ALIGNMENT FOR METRO'S EFFLUENT
TRANSFER SYSTEM RUNNING ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE
DUWAMISH RIVER FROM THE RENTON TREATMENT PLANT AND
CROSSING TO THE WEST SIDE OF THE RIVER AT A POINT
NORTH OF TUKWILA'S CORPORATE LIMITS.
WHEREAS, the Tukwila City Council supports the improved water quality
of the Green/ Duwamish River through the Effluent Transfer System and
acknowledges its regional nature, and
WHEREAS, public forums, Council discussions and meetings with Metro
staff have raised issues regarding the impacts of the proposed project on
Tukwila residents and businesses, and
WHEREAS, the recommended alignment should be designed to minimize
traffic disruption to Tukwila, and
WHEREAS, the recommended alignment should minimize negative economic
impacts to firms on or adjacent to the route including loss of business
through diminished access, decreased parking, utility interruption and other
effects of traffic disruption, and
WHEREAS, the recommended alignment should be developed to minimize
potential damage to property through subsidence and soil instability
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The Tukwila City Council recommends to Metro an alignment for the
Effluent Transfer System running along the east side of theDuwamish River from
the Renton Treatment Plant and crossing over to the river's west side at a
point north of Tukwila's corporate limits.
