REPEALED BY 569
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF CONSTRUCTING
AND CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS WITHIN THE TOWN OF TUKWILA.
BE IT ORDAINED, By the Town Counoil of the Town of Tukwila
follows:
Section 1. That no Public building, bucJiness block or
dwellins shall be constrqc,,ad within the Town or City limits of
the Town of Tukwila, City of tne Fourn. Class, without pLin s ars

tion of the same and such plan, in submitted to th Buildia
.tor of the Town of Tukwila, who shall authorize or refuse
such construction, niter or amend tha s-12,ae to coliforia with the
reoui=euents of this Ordinance.
That no buildings to be used for Public or Busi-
ness Blocks shall be constructed, altemid or repai within
the Town or City limits of sid Town of Tukwila which shall in
any wise enaunger the oceupati or inhabitants thereof from fire
and when any buildiniE in this district shall be drLmaged by fire
to the extent of si'Kty per cent 60%) of the Value of such build-
ing, it shll not be vepiiI but must be taken down and rebuilt
or removed.
Sec. 3. A permit authorizini;; the building, alterini7 or
repiring of any building shall entitle th person or corporation
holding such permit to the Ilse of one-third in width of the street
and alleys, around the lot on which the builling is to be c
for the depositing of buildine: zimterials and the Purposes of con-
strqction, and the person, borealis or corporation holding such
permit shall cause red lights to be placed in a conspicuous p17
along said material from sunset of each night until sunrise of
the .followinL; day, while ouch work 1 being continued.
Sec. 4. All rubbish and earth from the cloring of .11;7 lot
upon which a building is about to be begun must be immeditely

removed from the premises and cannot be deposited in streets
or alleys.
Sec. 5. The gutter or waterways, and all sewers in any
wise connected with any street, avenue or alley shall not be ob-
structed by any building materials or in any other manner, so as
to prevent the free discharge of water or sewerage along the same.
Sec. 6. Any buildiace or structure of any kind shall be
not less than three (3) feet from property line, unless such
building or structure is constructed of briok or concrete.
Sec. 7. Chimneys and Flues All chimneys and flues con-
structed in any building or structure of any kind shall be either
brick ov concrete, well plastered on both sides, and any chimney
or flue in public h7a1s, churches, schools or any other public
building to have flue lining or to h7e 8"• brick walls, and no
chimney or flue of any kind to come closer than two inches (2")
to any woodwork, and shall extend at least six ('3) inches above
ridge of the roof of any building.
Sec. 8. All buildings and structures shall rest on girders
sufficient to carry stme and girders to rest on posts not more
than six foot (6 Posts to rest on concrete blocks or
footina's. All outside and inside partitions to have fire stops
cut in between studs same size as studding, and to be not more
than 5 0" center to center.
Sec. 9. No explosive or inflammable compound or combusti-
ble material shall be stored or placed under any stairway of any
building nor used in any manner or place such as to obstruct or
render egress from said building more hazardous in case of fire.
Sec. 10. A bill board or board for advertising shall be
considered as a structure erected under this Ordinance and no
person or corporation shall hereafter construct or erect or cause
to be constructed or erected within the limits of the Town or
City of Tukwila in front of or along or within ten feet of the
line of any lot, piece or parcel of land, adjoining any of the

streets, avenues or other public places or property of the Town
of Tukwila, any bill board or other structure for posting or
exhibiting advertise.Eents,of any kind, nor shall hereafter keep
or maintain any such bill board or other structure now so built
or constructed without first obtaining permission of the town
council of said Town of Tukwila, and any person keeping or main-
taining such bill board or other structure of similar nature
upon which there shall be posted any obscene or lascivious pic-
ture, representation or writing shall cause said bill board to be
immediately removed and the right to erect and maintain the same
shall thereby be immediately withdrawn and the town council of
the Town of Tukwila reserves the right to revoke any such permit
at any time and to order any such bill board taken down and re-
moved.
Sec. 11. In all public halls in i.he Town of Tukwila already
erected or hereafter constructed, the halls, c.00rs, stairways,
seats and aisles shall be so arranged as to facilitate egress in
case of fire or accident. All aisles and passages in said build-
ing shall be kept free from obstructions and no person shall be
allowed to stand therein while any entertainment of any kind is
being conducted within such enclosure, and when the seating capac-
ity of such ouilding has been Cully filled, the persons in charge
of said public hall or halls shall not permit any other persons to
enter the same. All doors in public halls, school houses, churches
or any other public building, used for exits, to open outward.
Sec. 12. Every public hall with accommodations for five hun-
dred or more people shall nave at .Least two separate and distinct
exits, so f'oar apart as may be found practicable in the building
of said building, and public #alts accommodating seven hundred or
more persons shall have at least three separate and distinct exits,
and all egress openings in public halls shall nave the word "Exit"
conspicuously placed over such openings, said word "Exit" to be
brightly lighted at all times after sunset when said building is

in use.
Sec. 13. Plumbing: All plumbing to be installed in any struc
ture in the Town of Tukwila to be done in strict accordance with
this Ordinance; all sinks and bath tubs to have waste pipes not
less than one and one -half (12 ")in size and wash basins not less
than one and one quarter inch (ii toilets not less than three
inches (3 Al]. fixtures to be trapped and ventilated, all vents
to run not less than twelve (12) inches above roofs.
A special permit will have to be ob-
tained from the town council of the Town of Tukwila for the loca-
tion, erection and construction of any cess pool, septic tank, or

Sec. 14, Electric Wiring: All wiring for electric 1 i,hting
to be done in strict accordance and to the full satisfaction of
Building Inspector. No wire used to be smaller than #14 Copper
Wire, rubber covered and well insulated, and to be fastened with
split knobs every three (3) feet, and *here ever wire passes
through wood to have porcelain tubes or loom and wire to pass
through these tubes; where necessa.'y to place wire in partitions
where knobs or tubes cannot oe used, tlexible tubing must be used
to increase insulation of wire, this tubing to be of one contin-
uous piece from one support to other support. All wire to lights
and switches must have tubing from knobs to lights or from knobs
to switches. All wires must be spaced at least 5" apart. there
wires cross one another, porcelain tubes should be placed at cross-
ing and secured well with tape, all joints to be well soldered
and then covered with tape. Each circuit is to have no more than
eight (8) outlets. Cut -outs to be placed in a non combustible box
all properly insulated.
Sec. 15. Any owner, guilder, contractor, arcnitect, or other
person who shall construct, alter, repair, or cause to be con-
structed, altered or repaired, or in any wise be interested in the
same or permit the same, in violation of any provision of this
Ordinance, or who shall in any wise violate any provision there-
of, shall be subject to a fine of not less than FIVE DOLLARS nor
more than ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for each offence, and each day that
any building is being built, altered, repaired or constructed, or
shall be maintained in violation of this Ordinance, shall be
deemed a separate violation thereof.
Sec. 16. Permits shall be issued by the Building Inspector.
