HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0962 - Further Analysis of LRT Alignments of Multi Corridor Transit StudyCITY OF TUKWILA Approved as to Form Offi•e of the City Attghney WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 962 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RECOMMENDING THAT METRO AND PSCOG DO FURTHER ANALYSIS OF LRT ALIGNMENT ALTERNATIVES 1B AND 8 IN PHASE III OF THE MULTI CORRIDOR TRANSIT STUDY. WHEREAS, the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle (Metro) and the Puget Sound Council of Governments (PSCOG) are in the process of conducting a multi- corridor transit study to evaluate alternative transit plans and improvements to meet the future needs of King County, and WHEREAS, Phases I and II of the multi corridor study are now complete and Metro and PSCOG are preparing to select light rail transit (LRT) alignment alternatives for further analysis in Phase III of the study, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has reviewed Phases I and II of the multi- corridor study and has determined that the alternative LRT alignments known as Alignment No 1B (to Kent and Auburn via the Duwamish industrial area and Tukwila) and Alignment No. 8 (to Federal Way via the Duwamish industrial area, Tukwila and Sea -Tac Airport) would best serve the needs of the citizens of Tukwila WHEREAS, the Metro Corridor News, dated March, 1985, indicates the choice between Alignments 1B and 8 will be difficult, and construction of the south corridor is not anticipated until after the year, 2000, so that ample opportunity exists for evaluation of these alternatives NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS Section 1 Recommendation on Alternatives The City Council hereby recommends and approves further analysis of the LRT alignments com- monly known as Alignment No 1B (to Kent and Auburn via the Duwamish industrial area and Tukwila) and Alignment No 8 (to Federal Way via the Duwamish industrial area, Tukwila and Sea -Tac Airport) in Phase III of the multi- corridor study currently being conducted by Metro and PSCOG PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a regular meeting thereof this 17th day of June 1985 Filed with the City Clerk Passed by the City Council 4 -/7 8S Edgar D.
