WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila recognizes its responsibility to
encourage and provide opportunities for the employment of
minorities and women in the public sector, and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Auburn, Kent, Puyallup, Renton and
Tukwila have proposed to create a Valley Cities Affirmative Action
Coalition in order to facilitate a more effective joint
recruitment and placement of minorities and women in public
employment, and
WHEREAS, the City is authorized, pursuant to the Interlocal
Cooperation Act (Chapter 39 34 RCW) to enter into interlocal
agreements with other cities in order to pool resources and
efforts to provide common services, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila deems
affirmative action to be an appropriate and worthwhile subject for
interlocal cooperation, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
Section 1 Approval and Authorization The City Council
hereby approves that certain agreement entitled "Interlocal
Agreement" relating to the creation of the Valley Cities
Affirmative Action Coalition and authorizes the Mayor to execute
the same on behalf of the City of Tukwila

WASHINGTON, this 18th day of November 1985
