RESOLUTION NO 1020 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING THE TURNBACK OF CERTAIN RIGHT OF
WAY AND EASEMENTS LOCATED ALONG THE NORTH BOUNDARY OF
THE INTERSTATE 405 RIGHT OF WAY FROM THE STATE OF
WASHINGTON FOR USE IN CONNECTION WITH THE WIDENING OF
SOUTHCENTER BOULEVARD AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE A TURNBACK AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has plans to widen and construct
Southcenter Boulevard to five lanes between 62nd Avenue South and
the T -Line, and
WHEREAS, in order to complete such widening, additional
public right of way is needed and the City has been working with
the State of Washington's Department of Transportation to acquire
the necessary right of way from the right of way owned by the
State adjacent to the northern boundary of I -405, and
WHEREAS, the State has indicated its willingness to turn the
right of way over to the City and to give the City easements
inside the State's limited access area for slope and drainage, and
WHEREAS, the State has requested that the City sign a
turnback agreement governing responsibilities of the parties
with respect to the right of way and that the City agree to
formally- accept the relinquishment areas and easements, now,
therefore',
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Turnback Agreement and Authorization
for Signature. The City Council hereby approves that certain
turnback agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated
herein by this reference as if set forth in full and the Mayor is
authorized to execute the same on behalf of the City.
Section 2. Acceptance of Relinquishment Areas. The City
Council hereby accepts ownership of the turnback areas which are

to be granted to the City by the State in full and further accepts
the easements for slope and drainage inside the limited access
area which are to be turned over to the City by the State
