HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1043 - Commuter Rail Demonstration Project Feasibility Plan ILA CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 1043 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, PERTAINING TO THE COMMUTER RAIL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT FEASIBILITY PLAN FOR THE GREEN RIVER VALLEY, AND ENCOURAGING AND PROMOTING THE MUNICIPALITY OF METROPOLITAN SEATTLE TO PROCEED WITH SWIFTNESS TOWARD THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE COMPLETION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A RAIL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT. WHEREAS, a rail demonstration project is being studied using the existing railroad tracks in the Green River Valley, including sections through the City of Tukwila, and WHEREAS, such a project would improve traffic congestion in South King County and provide another means of commuting for the more than 20,000 persons employed in Tukwila, and WHEREAS, such a rail project could function as the first link in a eventual regional rail transportation network. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: The City of Tukwila does hereby endorse the implementation of said Rail System Demonstration Project and encourages the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle to proceed with the Project.
