CITY OF TUKWILA
WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 1049 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING FOR A GENERAL BUDGET
STATEMENT FOR 1988.
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed that the 1987 City Budget is
satisfactory to be used as a base in building the 1988 budget, and
WHEREAS, An order to adhere to a schedule which facilitates the
timely preparation, consideration, and adoption of an annual budget, the City
Council has considered budget priorities and policies for 1988.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The budget priorities of the City Council for 1988 shall
be as follows:
A. Funds be allotted in the Council budget to put forward a public
relations plan and implement it.
B. A plan for building cumulative reserve funds for transportation,
utilities and City buildings.
C. The TIP, completing construction of planned projects which have
had construction funding in the budget more than two (2) years.
D. A surface water management program plan.
E. Audit of cost implications of taking over Fort Dent Park.
F. Acquisitions of park and open space land in the Central Business
District.
G. Diking program along the Green River.
H. Connection of Tukwila's trails to the regional recreational trail
system.
I. Long term City computer plan.
Section 2. The Council will examine policies in 1988 which may have
implications for the budget. These policies are as follows:
A. Consideration of the mix and densities of housing in Tukwila.
B. A policy relating to contracting with fire and other service
districts adjoining Tukwila.
C. Examination of policies related to quality of developments and
to growth.
D. Analysis of our current bonded indebtedness, which could lead
to altered payment schedules for City debts.
E. A policy to encourage historic preservation.
F. Implementation of the sidewalk policy by setting up sidewalk
benefit districts.
G. Acquisition of a single zip code for Tukwila.

H. A policy relating to employee training programs including our
evaluation process to determine effectiveness.
I. Prioritization system for the CIP.
J. Economic Development Plan.
K. Examination of the cost /benefit of the City Court.
K. Examination of the cost /benefit of the City Court.
L. Examination of current tax base and plan for diversification.
M. Maintenance and expansion of representation in regional
government.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this day of 1987.
