HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1053 - Policies for Setting Fees for Recreation Programs and Classes (Repealed by Res 1414) Resolution 1053 was amended or repealed by the following resolutions. 1414 RESOLUTION NO. 1053 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING POLICIES FOR SETTING FEES FOR THE CITY'S RECREATION PROGRAMS AND CLASSES. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt uniform policies relating to fees for City park and recreation policies. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Class Fees. a. Class fees shall be kept as low as possible. b. All adult and youth classes will be offered to the community on a "break even" basis to cover 100% of the operating costs. Section 2. Senior Adult Program Fees. a. Program and class fees shall be kept as low as possible. b. Senior adult class fees shall cover a minimum of 50% of their operating costs. c. No fees shall be charged for the regular social programs (i.e., Wednesday and Thursday). d. Special events and parties will not require fees unless special food is provided and paid for by the City. e. Seniors will pay fees which cover expenses when trips and tours are provided by professional companies. f. Senior adults are responsible for their own expenses on trips sponsored by the City. g. No fees will be collected for transportaiton provided by the City, including the Southcenter van service, nurse and special events. Section 3. Teen and Youth Program Fees. a. Teen drop -in programs will be free of charge to the community. b. Teen and youth fees shall cover a minimum of 50% of the operating costs. c. Teen league fees shall cover 50% of their operating costs. Section 4. Athletic League and Tournament Fees. a. Adult athletic leagues or tournaments shall cover a minimum of 100% of their operating costs. b. Youth athletic league fees shall cover a minimum of 50% of their operating costs. 0 0 Section 5. General Policies. a. In senior adult and in teen and youth programs and activities the Recreation Coordinator may waive part or all of a fee in case of financial hardship. Such waivers shall be granted only occasionally and shall be used with great discretion. b. Fees and charges for all department programs will be reviewed yearly by the Parks and Recreation Director and by the Parks Commission. c. When fees are collected to cover program costs they shall include the direct costs for operating the program. Indirect and overhead costs may also be used to calculate program costs, especially in adult classes and adult athletics programs.
