RESOLUTION NO. 1073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HONORING BYRON G. SNEVA, PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR, IN HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, in 1967 John B. Strander was Mayor of the City of Tukwila,
and it was a period of rapid growth, and
WHEREAS, at that time, the total assessed value was $341,233.00, but
under construction was a multi- million dollar shopping complex and a multi
tenant Industrial Park, and
WHEREAS, during this period, Byron G. Sneva, a graduate of North
Dakota State University became Construction Manager for Puget Western,
developers of Andover Industrial Park, and
WHEREAS, while working in Tukwila, Mr. Sneva became an active member
of the Business Community. He served 3 years on the Planning Commission, was
a member of the Chamber of Commerce for 5 years, and a member of the South
Central Kiwanis Club for 4 years, and
WHEREAS, Byron Sneva has been employed by the City of Tukwila for the
past six years as Director of Public Works. During this period he managed the
design and construction of the Pedestrian and Pipe Bridge at South 180th and
Andover Park East under emergency conditions. He was the City's project
manager for the construction of the Metro Effluent Transfer System through the
City. He negotiated the mitigation for the project which amounted to $3.8
million in constructed facilities and cash to the City, and
WHEREAS, Byron has now decided it is time to retire, relax and enjoy
life in his new home in Anacortes.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Mayor Gary Van Dusen and the Tukwila City Council hereby express
their appreciation to Byron G. Sneva for the many years he has spent as an
active member of the Business Community and as Public Works Director.
It is appropriate to honor this dedication to our City, and we hereby
direct that a plaque bearing the inscription "In honor of Byron G. Sneva,
City of Tukwila, Public Works Director, April, 1988" be placed on the wooden
pedestrian and pipe bridge at So. 180th and Andover Park East.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this 4th day of April 1988.
