WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 1102 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING PRESERVATION OF SALMON
STOCKS IN THE GREEN RIVER.
WHEREAS, citizens of Washington and the City of Tukwila are blessed
with an abundance of natural resources, and
WHEREAS, among these are the Green River, that flows through the City
of Tukwila which is a top producer of winter -run steelhead and major contribu-
tor to production of Chinook and Coho salmon in the area, and
WHEREAS, recreational fishing is an important factor in the quality
of life that the citizens of the City and the State value greatly, and
WHEREAS, the City considers the preservation and enhancement of
anadromous fish stocks for the benefit of the area's citizens and for future
generations to be a paramount goal, and
WHEREAS, the Recreational Fishery Enhancement Act (SB5141/HB1105)
proposes to preserve and enhance salmon stock for the primary benefit of the
many citizens of the State and the City who are recreational fishermen and
whose quality of life is directly affected by sport fishing opportunities, and
WHEREAS, sport fishing is an important recreational activity for our
area, and the Green River's natural fish stocks normally attract tourism with
its economic benefits for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The City of Tukwila supports the Recreation Fishing Enhancement Act
of 1989 and other efforts to benefit and enhance the Green River's
support of salmon stocks for recreational fishing.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
special meeting thereof this 30 12 day of Qnua_V_LA 1989.
