RESOLUTION NO. 1138 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR CREEK
EROSION REPAIRS CAUSED BY HEAVY RAINS AND
AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY EXPENDITURES.
WHEREAS, a substantial amount of erosion has occured in the
Gilliam Creek Ravine between 42 Avenue South and South 154th
Street since the December 4th, 1989 flood, and
WHEREAS, erosion will result in further damage including
trees falling that are undermined, bank stability, and plugging
the South 154th Street drain again and potentially washing out the
South 154th Street fill section, and
WHEREAS, each rain storm furthers erosion and danger, and
WHEREAS, Rodarte Construction can place rocks from the North
Hill Reservoir to control erosion in this creek /ravine,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Heavy rains of the 1989/1990 winter have
accelerated erosion of the Gilliam Creek Ravine between 42nd
Avenue and South 154th Street.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to expend an
estimated $25,000 from the Surface Water Management Fund to
construct erosion controls.
