HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0058 - Plan of Main Street ViaductOrdinance No 58 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE ,CONSTRUCTION OF MAIN STREET VIADUCT. BE IT ORDAINED By the Council of the Town of Tukwila: Section 1: That Main Street in the Town of Tukwila, Washington, shall be improved by the construction of a viaduct in accordance with a plan therefor now on file with the Town Clerk of Tukwila, said plan being dated March 16, 1916, and marked "Plan of Main Street Viaduct the location of such improvement to be as. follows: Commencing at a point at the northwest corner of Main Street and the new Pacific Highway, and running thence in a straight line west 365 feet along the North line of Main Street in the tow of Tukwila. Section 2. That all lumber and timber used in the con- struction of this viaduct with the exception of mud sills, shall be of sound merchantable fir, free from any and all defects that would impair its strength and appearance. Mud sills to be of sound cedar. All posts, braces, timbers, sills, joists and planking for walk to be rough fir lumber. Railing to be surfaced lumber. Mud sills to be laid level and true to solid. Bearing posts to be 4xk, braces 2x6 all to be well spiked together with 30 penny nails. 1x6 sleepers to be laid on top of 4x4 posts, also well spiked. All benches to be of proper height to have walk to a true line and proper grade. Joists to be 3x6 and floor to be 2 inch planking, well spiked to each bearing, all to be done in accordance with the drawing of plan filed with the Town Clerk of the Town of Tukwila. All caps and stringers to be creosoted, also all places to be creosoted as shown on drawings. All work must be done in a good and workmanlike manner to the entire satisfaction of the Committee of Streets of the Town of Tukwila. Grade will be given by Street Committee. Section 3. That said improvement shall be made by contract to be let to the lowest and best bidder therefor; that calls for bids for the construction of said viaduct shall be posted by the Town Clerk in three conspicuous places upon the passage of this Ordinance and said bids shall be received by him up to the next meeting of the Council. Section 4. That the Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids received. Section 5. That this Ordinance shall become effective from and after Five (5) days from the date of its passage.
