RESOLUTION NO. 1153 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND AUTHORIZING THE SOLE
SOURCE PURCHASE OF OMNI RAILROAD RUBBER
CROSSING MATERIAL FROM THE CITY OF KENT, JULY
1990, CROSSING MATERIAL BID.
WHEREAS, the Southcenter Parkway at Minkler railroad crossing has deteriorated,
and
WHEREAS, eight other crossings are deteriorating, and
WHEREAS, Union Pacific Railroad will install rubber material and base that will
provide smooth crossings as well as reduce pedestrian and bicycle hazards, and
WHEREAS, Omni manufactures the only full depth rubber crossing material with
solid flangeways for the pedestrian areas (no gap between the railroad tracks and the rubber
material), and
WHEREAS, the City of Kent will allow us to purchase off their July 1990 crossing
material bid, and
WHEREAS, the Union Pacific engineers, our engineers, and Omni have reviewed
and designed the 9 downtown crossings for installation and 3 others for crossing removal,
and
WHEREAS, Omni has provided a quote of $133,569.37 for the material, and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee recommends purchase of material with
installation to be made in 1990 and 1991
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWIL A,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Public Works is authorized to purchase the material as quoted in the August 30 Omni
letter for $133,569.37.
