RESOLUTION NO. 1169 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HONORING DR. MARTIN
LUTHER RING, JUNIOR.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila wishes to recognize and honor the
birthday of Martin Luther Ring, and
WHEREAS, Martin Luther Ring's life exemplifies what is best
in our country, and what is, possible in our City and country, and
WHEREAS, his values and ideals can serve as models for every
American;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Council recognize and honor
January 21st as Martin Luther Ring day in Tukwila, and
Section 2. The City pledges to remember what Dr. Ring taught:
that one person can make a difference, and
Section 3. Martin Luther King_Jr.'s words and speech of "I
have a dream" should guide all of us into actions that will realize
that dream.
Section 4.\ In recognizing this day in honor of Dr. King, the
City rededicates itself to the principles of justice, respect and
equality for all citizens.
