A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING EXTENDED
MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR DEPENDENTS OF EMPLOYEES
WHO HAVE BEEN CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has declared its support for all United States military
personnel who have been called to duty as a result of the Middle East war known as "Desert
Storm and
WHEREAS, certain employees of the City are subject to be called to active duty during the
current Gulf Crisis, and
WHEREAS, continuing medical benefits for dependents may be desired by employees called
to active duty,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS.
1 All employees called to active duty may have provided, at their written request, City-
sponsored medical coverage for their dependents.
2 Each employee requesting coverage will relinquish one (1) day of vacation for each
month of coverage for their dependents after all regular coverage is exhausted. Eligibility for this
coverage shall be no earlier than February 1, 1991
3 Those employees who belong to collective bargaining units must have received
agreement between the union and the City in order to be eligible for this extended medical benefit.
4 The City Personnel Department will be the lead department to implement this benefit.
5 This benefit extension is available through December 31, 1991 or when employees are
returned to active employment by the City, whichever comes sooner The City Council may
extend the effect of this resolution beyond December 31, 1991, after further consideration.
RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
at its regular meeting on the 4th day of March 1991
