A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, CHANGING PORTIONS
OF 42ND AVENUE SOUTH, SOUTH 138TH STREET, SOUTH 136TH STREET,
SOUTH 135TH STREET, AND 53RD AVENUE SOUTH TO
MACADAM ROAD SOUTH.
WHEREAS, in the summer of 1990, citizens approached the City Council to change the
names of some city streets to aid in the proper identification of local addresses, and
WHEREAS, a citizen committee was convened to study the problem and recommend
solutions, and
WHEREAS, citizens on the affected streets were notified by hand delivered notices and
by mailed letters of the proposed changes and were told how they could let their opinions be
known, and
WHEREAS, the original name of many of the affected streets was Macadam in honor of
the first macadamized road in the region,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS.
Section 1. That the sections of roadway west of Interstate 5 beginning at Macadam Road
on S 144th, travelling northward on Macadam and including those sections of what appears to
be the same road on S 138th Street, S 136th Street, S 135th, and 42nd Avenue, will be renamed
"Macadam Road South"
Section 2. That on the east side of Interstate 5, from Southcenter Boulevard northward,
the name "Macadam Road South" will be retained and will be extended to include the portion of
53rd Avenue South south of S 144th which is contiguous with Macadam.
Section 3. The change will take effect six months from the effective date of this
resolution. Citizens whose addresses will be affected by the change will be notified by first class
mail.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
at a regular meeting thereof this 3rd day of September 1991
