AN ORDINANCE granting to The Pacific Telephone and
Telegraph Company, Ito successors and assigns,, the right to place,
erect and maintain pules,, wires and ,ether appliances and conductors
and to lay underground wires for the transmission of electricity
for telephone and telegraph purposes in and capon and under the
str eets, alleys, avenues and tho oughfares, and public highways

of doing a. telephone and telegraph business within the said 'Town
of Tukwila, Washington.

AN ORDINANCE granting to The Pacific Telephone and
Telegraph Company, its successors abd assigns, the right to place,
erect and maintain poles, wires and other appliances and conductors
and to lay underground wires for the transmission of electricity
for telephone and telegraph purposes in and upon and under the
streets, alleys, avenues and thoroughfares, and public highways
in' the Town of Tukwila, State of Washington, and to exercise the
privilege of operating telephone and telegraph instruments in and
of doing a telephone and telegraph business within the said Town
of Tukwila, Washington.
BE IT 'CRDA INED' BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OP TUKWILA.:
Section 1. There is hereby grantea by the Town of Tukwila
to The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company; its successore and
assigns, the right and privilege to do a general telephone and
telegraph bue within said Town of Tukwila and to place, erect,
lay., maintain and operate in and under the streets and alleys,
avenues, thoroughfares and public highways within the said town,
poles, wires and other appliances, and conductors for the trans
mission of electrioty for telephone and telegraph purposes. Such
wires and other appliances and conductors may be strung 'upon poles
or other fixtures above ground, or at the option of the. grantee, its
,successors and assigns, may be laic underground in pipes or conduits
or otherwise protected, and such other apparatus may be used as may
be necessary or proper to operate and maintain the same.
Section 2. It shall be lawful for said The Pacific Telephone
and Telegraph Company, its successors and assigns to make all need
ful excavations in any of such streets, alleys, avenues, thorough-
fares and .public highways in said town for the purpose of placing,
.erecting, laying and maintaining poles, or other supports or con-
ductors for said wires or repairing, renewing or replacing the
same. Said work shall be done in compliance with the necessary
rules, regulations, ordinances or orders, which may during the
continuance of this franchise be adopted from time to time by
the Town of Tukwila.
Section 30 'Whenever The Pacific Telephone and'Telegraph
Company, its successors and assigns, shall disturb any of the
street Vor; "t,he purpose aforesaid; it or they shall restore the
same to good order and condition as soon as practicable without
unnecessary delay., and failing to do so the Town of Tukwila shall
have the right to fix a reasonable time within which such repairs
and restoration of streets shall.be completed, and upon failure of
such repairs being made by said Company, its successors and assigns,
the Town of Tukwila shall cause such repairs to 'be made at the
expense of paid The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, its
successors .and assigns.
=Section 4. Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed in
any way to-prevent the proper authorities of the Town of Tukwila
from severing, grading, planking, racking, paving, repairing, alter
ing or improving any of the streets, alloys', avenues, thoroughfares
and public highways within the Town of Tukwila in or upon. which
the poles, wires or other conductors of said company ,shall be
placed; but all such work or improvements shall be done if possible
so as not to obstruct or prevent the free use of said poles wire,
conductors, conduits, pipes or other apparatus.
Section 5. In consideration of the rights and privileges
hereby granted the Town of Tukwila shell :gave., and the said The
Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company hereby grants it the
right and` privilege to suspend and maintain on poles placed by said
grantee,, its puccassore and assigns, in the .streets and other places
aforesaid or if said wires, are placed underground, to place and.
maintain in the conduits of said grantee any and all wires which
said Town of Tukwila may require, for fire alarm anal. police telegraph
purposes and electric light vviring free of charge to said 'Town.
Section 6. The rights, privileges and franchises herein
granted shall continue and be in force for the period of, twenty
f ive (25) years from and after the data of the passage of this
ordinance.
Section 7- This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage,.
