The soil engineer called for re- inforced footings on page 6 of report. However, the structural engineer called for unreinforced footings, be sure engineer is aware of report. 2. Special inspection in conformance with Section 305 is required for all structural and light gauge welding. 3. Soil is to receive fill 120 days prior to start of construction as per the soil report. Gentlemen: Report of Inspection and Testing During Filling Planned Service Station No. 1889 West Valley Road and Highway 405 Tukwila, Washington 'J, is This report summarizes the.results'of our inspection and testing i( during filling for a planned service station site in Tukwila, Washington..,; Our recommendations for site preparation and filling were presented in,our site investigation report dated October 9, 1969. Our inspections and this,' report concern work performed by Mr. William Bliton between March 23 and March 27, 1970. On March 20, 1970, a proposed borrow source located near 59th Avenue South and the Renton -Three Tree Point Road was inspected and was tentatively approved for use. Limited exposure within the pit area i prevented a thorough inspection. During the first day of filling, it became. apparent the material contained an increasing amount of fines and excessive j moisture and was unsatisfactory for continued use. At our suggestion, the contractor located two other borrow sources, one near Cedar Grove in Maple Valley, and the other near 135th Avenue S. E.,ard Petrovitsky Road. Both sources contained clean sand and gravel. Because of its proximity to the r site, the pit on Petrovitsky Road was utilized. 1 Prior to filling, the site had been cleared of existing, structures, trees, brush, and debris. The concrete foundations and sidewalks had been i. removed and the resulting excavations backfilled to approximately the original :,':'ground surface with on -site material and compacted with construction traffic.--• x site plan x
