HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0051 - Tukwila Avenue ViaductORDINANCE NO. 51 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TUKWILA AVENUE VIADUCT. BE lT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Tukwila: Section 1. That Tukwila Avenue in the town of Tukwila, Washington, shall be improved by the construction of a viaduct or plank walk, in accordance with a plan therefor now on file with the Town Clerk of Tukwila, said plan being dated July 13, 1915, and marked "Plan of Tukwila Avenue Viaduct the location of such im- provement to be as follows: Commencing at a point at the Northwest corner of Avenue and Rainier Avenue and running thence in a straight'line west 350 feet in the town of Tukwila. Section 2, That all lumber and timber used in the construction of said viaduct with the exception of the mud sills, shall be of sound merchantable fir, free of any and all defects that would impair its strength; the mud sills to be ©cund cedar; all pouts, braces, timbers 81111 and joists, railing and posts for railing to be of rough fir lumber; braces for said railing to be of surfaced lumber; t'le mud sills to be buried solid and so placed as to bring the same to a level line; the poets to be of 4 x 44" lumber braoed by 2 x 6" lumber and spiked with 2Cki spikes. 4 x 6" sleepers to be laid on top of poets all well spiked and to be to a true line to form grade. Joists to be 3 x 6' and plank walk or floor of 2" material and spiked. Railing to be braced to sills and well nailed to bearings; all according to said plan filed with the Town Clerk of Tukwila. The contractor shall have the use of all old lumber in the present walk and shall remove all debris on com =pletion of work. Work must be done in a good and workmanlike manner and to the entire satisfaction of the Council of the Town of Tuktt*la. The heighth of the grade is approximate and shall be determined and established by running a true line from the starting point to the end of said viaduct or walk, the point of beginning and the point of ending to be given to the contractor the Chairman of the Street Committee of the town of Tukwila. Section 3. That said improvement shall be made by contract to be let to the lowest and best bidder therefor; that calla for bids for the construction of said viaduct shall be posted by the Town Clerk in three conspicuous places upon the passage of this Ordinance and said bids shall be received by him up to the next meeting of the Council. Section 4. That the Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids received. Section That this Ordinance shall become effective from and after Five (5) days from the date of its passage.
