HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0019 - Sidewalk Construction on Tukwila Avenue, Kenney Boulevard and Highland DriveRESOLUTION No 19 A RESOLUTION concerning the construction in Tukwila, King County, State of Washington, of Plank Sidewalks, as follows: The construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Tukwila Avenue from its intersection with Riverside Avenue to its intersection with Rainier Avenue. The construction of a sidewalk on the east side of Kenney Boulevard from its intersection with Tukwila Avenue to the south boundary of Lot 5, Block 5. The construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Highland Drive from its intersection with Main Street to its intersection with Riverside Avenue. All in the Town of Tukwila, County of King, State of Washington. WHEREAS, Public• Safety and Convenience demand and require that sidewalks be constructed in the Town of Tukwila, along Streets, Avenues or Boulevards, in the manner fol).owing, to -wit: First: Beginning at the west side of the intersection of Riverside Avenue with Tukwila Avenue, and continuing along said Tukwila Avenue on the north side thereof to the intersection of said Tukwila Avenue with the east side of Rainier Avenue. Secondg Beginning at the south side of the intersection of Tukwila Avenue and ]Kenney Boulevard, and continuing along the east side of said Kenney Boulevard to the southern boundary of Lot 5, Block 5. Third;. Beginning at the west side of the intersection of Main Street with Highland Drive, and continuing along the north side of said Highland Drive to the east side of its intersection with Riverside Avenue. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF TUKWILA, that Plank Sidewalks in the various districts as above set forth be constructed at the expense of the abutting several properties in said district, in the sidewalk area of the several streets affected or mentioned in this Resolution, to -wit: Between the margin of the abutting property on the north side of Tukwila Avenue and the roadway lying in front thereof; between the margin of the abutting property on the east side of Kenney Boulevard and the roadway lying in front thereof; between the margin of the property abutting on the north side of Highland Drive and the roadway lying in tent thereof. And, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said sidewalks as above set out and enumerated shall be Six (6) feet wide, shall be constructed in a uniform manner and of uniform material throughout the districts to which these particular spec- ifications shall apply in strict accordance with the following: (a) These sidewalks shall be constructed of sound, No. 1 Merchantable Fir lumber, free from any and all defects which would in anywise impair its strength, durability, or appearance. (b) The material of which these sidewalks will be constructed shall be 2- in.ch by 6 -inch surfaced boards (2 x 8 -inch material may be used if it is found impossible or inexpedient to obtain 2 x 6 -inch material), to be laid one fourth inch apart, and each board to be nailed at each bearing with two (2) 16 -penny nails. (c) These sidewalks shall: rest upon three (3) bearings or sleepers which are to be of the same class of material, as regards quality, as is mentioned in the first paragraph of this Specification, and each bearing or sleeper to be 4 -inch by 4 -inch in dimension, and to be supported or blocked every six (6) feet by good, sound Cedar blocking. Joints of these sleepers or bearings to be wellroiled to- gether and to be broken in every instance by at least the distance between any two blocks or supports. (d) These sidewalks are to be laid to a true line of grade, the points of which grade to be given by Superintendent of Streets. (e) All work to be done in a neat and workmanlike manner and to the complete satisfaction of Superintendent of Streets and the Street Committee of the Town Council. The abutting property in front of and adjacent to which these sidewalks are to be constructed, together with the approximate cost of each lot, and the Dame of the owner and his or her last known address, all appear in the following schedule: All Streets, Avenues and Boulevards mentioned in this Resolution, as well as all property affected thereby is situated in the Town of Tukwila, but the technical descriptions of the various Lots, Blocks, Tracts or Parcels of land, appearing in the regards in the office of the Auditor of King County, Washington, refer to the Incorporated Municipality known as the "Town of Tukwila" under the name "Hillman's Seattle Garden Tracts They are identical. Smith, Goshen, A d d r e s s n n Wash. tt AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Notice, in the manner provided by Law, be given to the several Owners of the property above described, ordering the construction of the above described walks, and that there be provided in such Notice that unless said walks shall- have been constructed on or before March 15th, 1921, A.D., the Town. of Tukwila will, on that date, begin the construction of said walks and cause the expense or .such construction to be assesued against the owners of the several lots in front of which said walks are to be constructed.
