HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0025 - Election for Disincorporation and Elected ReceiverWHEREAS, There was filed on the 12th day of June, 1924, with the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila, King County, Washington, and accepted by said Town Council, on the 10th day of ffuly, 1924, a petition, the object and prayer of the signers thereof being, the submitting at the polls, to the voters of the Town of Tukwila, of the question, whether or not, said Town of Tukwila shall be disincorporated, and a Receiver elected, E. F. Doty being named as a candidate for Receiver; And Whereas, the Tukwila Town. Council has, on the 20th day of June, 1924, in conjunction with the Town Clerk, and the Deputy Registration Officer, examined said petition, and compared same with the registration books of the Town. of Tukwila, for the year 1924; And Whereas, the Tukwila Town. Council finds, that the said registration books contain the names of Two Hundred and Eleven (211) qualified voters, and that said petition contains the names of One Hundred and Nine (109) qualified voters, as shown by said registration books, the petition therefor containing a majority; And Whereas, the Town Clerk and the Deputy Registration Officer of the Town of Tukwila, have certified, that said petition contains the names of One Hundred and Nine (109) qualified voters; and that the Registration Books for the Town Of Tukwila contain the names of Two Hundred and Eleven (211) qualified voters, and have further certified, that said petition contains the names of a majority of the qualified voters of the Town of Tukwila, as required by law; And Whereas, in accordance with law provided for disincor- borating cities of the 4th class, the Tukwila Town Council has caused a census of the Town of Tukwila to be taken, and the inhabitants thereof enumerated; And Whereas, IrIr. J. L. Durbin, the person employed to conduct said census, has completed said enumeration, and on the 25th day of July, 1924, declared under oath, that to the best of his knowledge and belief, the Town of Tukwila, Washington contains less than 4,000 inhabitants, and further affirms, that the total number of the inhabitants of said Town is Four IIundred and Sixty -One (461); And Whereas to the best of our knowledge and belief, the law has been complied with in all particulars, and the said petition is a lawful and valid instrument for the uses and purposes set forth; NOW THEI EFO BE I T RESOLVED: That the Tukwila Town Council shall and does hereby request, the Election Board of King County, Washington, to call a special election, at the earliest possible time, in the Town of Tukwila for the submission to the electors of said Town, for their adoption and approval or rejection of the following proposition: RESOLUTION No. 25 ATTEST: Shall the Town of Tukwila be disincorporated and a Receiver elected.
