The front back exempt license plates and two small blue flashing lights were stolen
from a parked Tukwila Police prisoner transport van sometime overnight. The license
plate number is 31213D and is registered to the City of Tukwila. The lights that were
stolen were small strobe lights that were mounted in the grill.
There is a safety concern for the public if someone were to use these plates and lights
in an attempt to impersonate a police officer. As a safety reminder, the police and WSP
do use unmarked police cars to conduct traffic stops. If you feel unsafe when being
pulled over, move to the right lane and obey the rules of the road and drive to a well -lit
populated area before stopping. You may also call 911 to verify that it is a legitimate
officer. Remember, police officers will become concerned when a driver fails to pull
over when indicated and may believe they are facing a threat. Consider all the
circumstances carefully before taking such measures.
