Dear Mr. Zepp:
Listed below are the following recommendations in regard to the fire pro-
tection system for the Levitz Furniture Company building.
1. Hydrants: Shall conform to A.W.W.A. specification C502 -54 compression
type and shall include a two piece breaking flange with breaking thimble
at ground line of stem, shall have a self- oiling dry bonnet vrith factory
filled resorvoir holding approximately 8 ounces of oil. Upper stem to
have brass sleeve. Oil reservoir shall have two 11 rings. Oil reservoir
`sb designed to give a complete lubrication of stems each time hydrant is
operated. Hydrant to be equipped with 2 2b inch N.S.T. hose ports,
1 44, inch.N.S.T. pumper discharge, 1� inch pentagon open lift operating
nut, 3 foot bury, 6 MJ bottom connection. Hydrants to equal to
Mueller Co. A 24015, 5� inch main valve opening. Paint shall be Rust
oleum 659 Yellow gloss.
Shall be installed as to have 18 inches above grade level, to the center
of the pumper discharge.
Shall not be any closer than 4 feet to any.object, i.e: fences, parking, etc.
2. Fire Department Connection: Shall be changed to 2J x 2J x 2•J x 6 inches,
N.S.T.
3. Fire Nozzles: Shall be of the adjustable fog /shut off type.
4. Reserve Sprinkler Heads: A third set of heads shall be furnished and
delivered to the fire department, before the building is occupied. One
each of different types used in the building. The correct wrench shall
also be delivered at the same time. These shall be delivered to the
Fire Marshal's office at the above address.

We are returning to you under separate cover the above subject
plan which has been checked for conformance with the Uniform
Building Code and following are the comments of our plans checkers
1. Unobstructed yards of 60 feet should be maintained on 4 sides
of the building for area purposes. Section 506.
2. Nonabsorbent finish and backing for toilet room walls and
floor should conform to Section 1711 (a).
3. Conforming exits are required from the areas below as specified
in Section 3302 (a).
Warehouse requires two means of egress, with a travel distance
not to exceed two hundred feet from any point, measured in the
line of travel.
4. Exit doors should provide immediate access to an approved
means of egress. Section 3303 (g). Exiting into or through
another room is not acceptable.
5. The interior wall and ceiling finishes should be specified
and comply with Table No. 42 -8 and Section 4203.
6. Precast concrete wall panels are limited to an h/t ratio of
36 (25). Section 2622 (f).
7. Glued laminated lumber should be fabricated in accordance
with Section 2513 (c). A certificate of inspection should be
submitted to the building official. Section 2513 (e).
8. Plywood grades should conform with Table No. 25 -C.
