RESOLUTION NO. 159
WHEREAS, we consider it essential for any city or town to promote the
community loyalty and spirit of its citizens, to its local governmental entities,
and
WHEREAS, the school loyalties of the residents of Tukwila are divided at
the present time because these residents live in three different King County school
districts, and we consider this an undesirable situation, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila was for many years within the South Central
School District and considers that its school loyalties should properly be directed
to that district, and
WHEREAS, the residents and owners of several pieces of property within the
City of Tukwila, but in the Renton School District, have made application to the
proper authorities for their properties to be transferred. to the South Central
School District, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila also believes that a
broader tax base would enable the South Central School District to better serve
the children of the residents of this City, and such a tax base would be improved
by the addition of the property herein mentioned to the South Central School District;
N(W THERI..FORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tukwila,
Washington, petitions the King County School Organization Comnittee to give
favorable attention to the petitions of our citizens who wish to tranfer
into the South Central School District as herein described, and order that
said transfer shall be completed as soon as possible and practical.
PASSED at a public meeting of the City Council of the City of Tukwila held
on November. 1962
