Res 0176 - Parking Regulations on State Highway 2-M
CITY OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 176 WHEREAS, a portion of the State of Washington Highway, known as secondary State Highway 2 -M, is inside the City limits of the City of Tukwila, and WHEREAS, it is the determination of the Council of the City of Tukwila after conferring with the Tukwila Police Department that parking regulations are necessary on said high- way to assure safety and flow of traffic, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City of Tukwila, in accordance with RCW 47.24.020 (11), requests that the Washington State Highway Commission approve no parking restrictions on the west side of Washington State secondary State Highway 2 -M beginning at a point 800 feet north of the intersection of 58th Avenue South and said secondary State Highway 2 -M and extending 100 feet in a northerly direction along said State Highway in the City of Tukwila. It is requested that the placement of no parking signs be approved for this area. APPROVED AND PASSED by the City Council of the City of Tukwila this day of 1964. After a brief discussion Mr. Minkler moved that council approve th-s plans subject to I'lr. Zepp's recommendations, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Minkler spoke of the a street name change in the Andover Park. It has been suggested that 164th Street south be changed to Strander Blvd. Mir. Anderson moved that council approve this change seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Ives discussed with council a sub division Ordinance, as it is necessary that the City of Tukwila have one. Mr. Harrison of the Planning commission will be contacted in this regard Mr. Ives reported for the Schaal committee. Mr. Ives reported for the License committee a license application received from a Mr. Baker pretaining to a rock shop was approved by council. A license application received from a Mr. Ray Meyers however has been denied as this comes under the classification of a peddler. Mr. Baker suggested that it would be wise to have the present peddlers license reviewed and brought up to date. the City Clerk was instructed to send a copy of the above mentioned ardinance•to the attorney for study. Mr. Gardner reported for the Metro Committee. Mr. Bowe moved that Ordinance 407 relating to the 1965 budget be placed on ;r its first reading, seconded by Mr. Baker and married. Mr. Minkler moved that Ordinance 407 be placed on its second* reading, seconded, by Mr. Baker and carried. Mr. Andersen moved that Ordinance 407 be placed on its third and final reading for adoption, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Air. Ives moved that Orinance 408 relating to the 1965 taxation for the City of Tukwila be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Anderson and T carried. Mr. Baker .moved that Ordinance 408 be placed en its second reading seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Baker moved that Ordinance 408 be placed on its third and final liammagm reading for passage, seconded by Mr. Minkler arried.... Mr. Hodge present resolution 17 to council this in regard is parking areas along Highway 2 -M located wit the City limits. Mr. Ives moved that council i 0 approve this resolution seconded by Mr. Baker and carried. Resolution 177 relating to Puget Sound Power and Light Contract was read at 1 this time.. this in regard to a service agreement. Mr. Minkler moved that counci`L approve this resolttisn seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Ordinance 409 relating to the Sale of the Mercury Vapor Fixtures to Puget Sound Power and Light Cempany was presented to council. Mr. Baker moved that Y council approve this reading seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Air. Baker moved that Ordinance 409 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 409 be placed on its k third and final reading for passage, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr.Lepp questioned council as to the disposition of the diesel tank and pump Mr. Ives moved that the City buy same from Victor oil f 'the sum of •$50.00 seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried Mr. McCon_ky spoke to council in regard to the assessments on his property. Mrs. Flink questioned council about the drainage in front of her home. Mr. Zepp stated that a barricade will be placed at the site to denote danger in the area.. STRANDER (O" The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8 :00 P.M. Council men present were Stan Minkler, E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, C.T. Baker and Robert B. Andersen. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the September 8th meeting, the minutes were approved as read. Mr. Hinkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mayor Strander present resolution No. 176 in regard to the revision of the limited access highway Mr. Ives m©v�d "that council approve this resolution, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. The public hearing relating to L.I.D. 5 was opened for discussion at this time, with council acting as a board of adjustment. Mr. Hodge, the attorney outlined the 1 duties and responsibilities of this board of adjustment. Mayor Strander gave a detailed account of why the City felt that this was the time to enter into this sewer project. No. 1. Being that a new school in the area made it necessary. No. 2. the growth of the City No. 3 That if the city waited, the cost would be greatly increased as the freeway crossing would involve a greater problem, that being the freeway would have to tunneled under at a greater cost to all those included in the L.I.D. Mayor Strander also suited that the monthly sewer rate/ or charge was raised from $4.00 to $4.50 the need for this was because of 3 sections originally figured in the L.I.D. were deleted.
