HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0198 - Intent to Improve South 180th Street and Southcenter ParkwayCITY OF RESOLUTION NO. 198 WASHINGTON c A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE PORTIONS OF SOUTH 180th STREET AND SOUTH CENTER PARKWAY BY EXCAVATING AND GRADING INCLUDING CURBS AND GUTTERS, ASPHALT PAVING, LIGHTING, DRAINAGE, AND LAND ACQUISITION ON EITHER SIDE OF THE EXISTING STREET; DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO FURTHER IMPROVE SOUTH CENTER PARKWAY BY THE INSTALLATION OF A STORM SEWER ON THE WEST SIDE OF SOUTH CENTER PARKWAY AS DESCRIBED HEREIN TOGETHER WITH NECESSARY PIPES AND MANHOLES; AND NOTIFYING ALL PERSONS WHO MAY DESIRE TO OBJECT TO SAID IMPROVEMENT TO APPEAR AND PRESENT THEIR OBJECTIONS AT A MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO BE HELD ON THE 26th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1968. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, as follows: Section 1. That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tukwila, Washington to order the following improvements: (1) To improve South 180th Street from the Green River to the South Center Parkway and for South Center Parkway from South 180th Street to Strander Boulevard including curbs and gutters, asphalt paving, lighting, drainage, and land acquisition on either side of the existing street. The property to be benefited is described in Description "A" attached hereto and incorporated by reference as though fully set forth; being one continuous improvement. (2) To improve by the installation of a storm sewer the west side of South Center Parkway from Minkler Boulevard to several hundred feet northerly of South 180th Street. This storm sewer includes pipe from 18 -inch to 42 -inch in diameter together with the necessary manholes. The property to be benefited is described in Description "H" attached hereto and incorporated by reference as though fully set forth; being one continuous improvement. Section 2. That the total estimated cost of each continuous unit of said improvement is hereby declared to be as follows: Unit (1) $1,177,600.00 Unit (2) 137,000.00 At least $952,340.00 and possibly 90% of the cost of Unit (1) shall be paid from funds derived from the State of Washington Urban Arterial Board. That the entire remaining cost and expense of such improvement shall be borne by and assessed against the property specially benefitted by such improvement. That there shall be included in the cost and expense of said improvement all cost items specified in RCW 35.55.020. That the assessment rates shall be computed on the basis of the cost and expense of each continuous unit of said improvement as above described. Section 3. That all persons who may desire to object to the improvement herein described are hereby notified to appear and present such objections at a meeting of the City Council to be ehld in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Tukwila, Washington, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on February 26, 1968, which time and place are hereby fixed for hearing all matters relating to said proposed improvement and all objections thereto and for determining the method of payment for said improvement. -2- Section 4. That Hill and Ingman, City Engineers, are hereby directed to submit to to the City Council, on or prior to the y of 1 r 6 196, all data and information required by law to be submitted. The foregoing resolution was ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Tukwila, Washington, at a regular meeting this day of �1�!
