The following information is being provided in response to media inquiries regarding an
alleged use of force incident that is currently under internal review.
The Tukwila Police Department takes complaints relating to alleged officer misconduct
very seriously. As a Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs accredited
police department, Tukwila has a standard operating procedure that ensures a formal
review of use of force incidents for compliance with existing policy and law.
Since a thorough internal investigation of this incident is currently being conducted, the
Police Department will refrain from discussing any details or making further comments
until the investigation is complete.
It is the policy of the Tukwila Police Department to uphold, promote and demand the
highest professional standards from all of its members. The Department not only seeks
to build community trust, but strives to be transparent and responsive to the
community's demand for accountability. The quality of our police service and
satisfaction with our public safety efforts being delivered in a professional, impartial, and
